Extra Quiet
Columbia Journal, Issue 55
2017

… The funny thing is, when a deployment’s winding down, at least if you’re like me, you waste a lot of time worrying about what to say when people ask, “So, how was it over there?” You might even go so far as to get some answers ready—and then you get home, and nobody asks. You know they’re probably telling themselves they’re doing you a big favor by not dredging it all up, but the truth is they just don’t wanna know.
